Worcestershire Record No. 23 November 2007 p. 3

ANNUAL MEETING

Saturday 15th March 2008.

(10am to 4pm)

THE REFORMATION OF NATURAL ENGLAND’S MAD BUG MAN – WHERE DO WE FIND THE NEW GENERATION OF NATURAL HISTORIANS?

An illustrated presentation by Roger Key

Roger has been English Nature’s senior specialist entomologist for many years. With the re-organisation to Natural England he has taken on a new more educational role and part of his work is to encourage and develop a band of naturalists and biological recorders for the future. He has always been an interesting and entertaining speaker and this should be a particularly stimulating presentation.

His present title is:

Senior Specialist Education & Learning
Social & Economic Evidence Team
Natural England.

NEW VENUE

This meeting will be at the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust headquarters at Lower Smite Farm making use of the new facilities in the great barn (complete with geothermal underfloor heating, and built in PA system!). There will be plenty of room for displays, demonstrations, and biological specimens so please consider bringing something along.

For the rest of the programme we are planning several short presentations by local naturalists. To date likely items are on Homoptera (John Partridge), A Great Cricketing Summer (Harry Green), River Studies (Graham Hill)

A full programme and book forms will be circulated in early February 2008. It is essential that you book for this meeting.
