EDITORIAL
Worcestershire Mammal Atlas Project

We have about another 18 months to run on this project and we need more records! Please make a great effort to send in any records. We are particularly short of small rodent records and you could help! See Shaun Micklewright’s article and watch your cat! Also deer appear to be spreading – you may see them at night while you are driving – we need the information! Send your records to the WBRC Office – address on back page.

A NEW PROJECT
Recording breeding birds of Conservation Concern
.

We are short of local information on the distribution of Red and Amber listed birds and have set up a system to collect records. See enclosed Instruction Sheet and Recording Form and article in this issue. The recording form is available on our web site and we should prefer to receive records on this via email whenever possible as we do not have the people-power to key in a lot of paper records.

The Register of Worcestershire’s Ancient Trees is steadily accumulating information – we need more recorders! We have now recorded 630 trees and there are still many more out there! Full instructions were included in Worcestershire Record No 12 together with report forms. We do urge you to get out there and record trees. If you need more copies of forms or instructions please let me know. They can be sent to you by email if you wish and you can send us zipped files with photographs by email directly to John Tilt john.tilt2@btopenworld.com. Further searches in the county are confirming our view that we have a great many interesting trees and that Worcestershire is probably especially important in the national context.

In this issue there are articles on many topics from lichens to frogs, ancient trees to big green beetles! We hope you find something of interest. How about sending a contribution for the nest issue?
