Worcestershire Record No. 18 April 2005 p. 3

The 2005 Entomology Day, which is of interest to all naturalists not just entomologists, will be held on Saturday 29th October at Heightington Village Hall. The meeting will start at 10.00 a.m. and doors will be open from 9.00 a.m. for those bringing displays or specimens for identification and tea or coffee will be available from about 09.30 a.m.
One of the principal speakers will be Mike Edwards, a nationally respected consultant entomologist and co-author of the recently published Field Guide to the Bumblebees of Great Britain and Ireland. Mike will be giving a talk on woodland structure and insects. Other speakers are being arranged and there will be time available for practical workshops and viewing displays.
The 2004 Entomology Day was a very successful event such that we nearly exceeded the capacity of the Wyre Forest Education Centre, hence the move to Heightington village hall. Heightington is situated between Callow Hill and Dunley, south of the Wyre Forest, at approximately SO763712. There will be a charge of £5 for the day and pre-booking would be much appreciated, though people turning up on the day will be very welcome. A cheque, payable to Wyre Forest Study Group, should be sent to Geoff Trevis, 14, Old Coach Road, Droitwich Spa, Worcs., WR9 8BB, accompanied by a note confirming that the money is for the Entomology Day. Those pre-booking will be sent a programme and further details nearer the time but those intending to arrive without booking please note that a packed lunch is essential if you want to avoid starvation!
We hope as many people as possible will bring specimens and displays so that we will have plenty to look at, discuss and learn from and from which to find out more of members interests. If you have any special requirements such as display boards please let us know in advance (via Geoff at the address above or by e-mail at geoff.trevis@btinternet .com).
Please put this in your diary now!
