Worcestershire Record No. 25 November 2008 p. 4
The field recording days for summer 2009 are being planned as follows:
Saturday 30th May 2009
Upper Hollowfields Farm, near Hanbury, by kind permission of Janette Terry
Saturday 4th July 2009
Shrawley Wood, by kind permission of the Forestry Commission. This woodland
has been known to Worcestershire Naturalists for a very long time and is famous
for extensive areas of Small-leaved Lime coppice and standard trees, uncommon
plants, insects and fungi. Part was planted post-war with conifers which are
being removed.
Saturday 1st August 2009
Feckenham Wylde Moor, by kind permissions of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust
which manages the site as a wildlife reserve . An interesting wet site based on
fen peat with pools, marshy fields, reed beds and ditches, managed primarily for
rough grazing. Relatively little information available on its invertebrates.
Full details of these visits together with a booking form will be circulated in February 2009. It is essential that you book for these visits - if you have not received details and are interested, please contact Harry Green.
